Jerry was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital (now Denali State Bank), and grew up in Fairbanks. A 30-year veteran of Fairbanks broadcasting who got his first Radio Operator‘s License at age 16, Jerry started at KUAC TV as an assistant producer for television in 1982. Prior to his first stint at KUAC, he spent four years as a military photographic specialist. Evans returned to Fairbanks, where he worked in both radio and television, including four years at KSUA at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Jerry’s wife of 20 years Dana is the new Principal at Barnette Magnet School, which ironically is both of their alma matters. Their son Skyler recently loaded up his Subaru with all his worldly possessions to find his destiny. A little-known fact is that Jerry is not only "Fairbanks' Official Ambassador of Leisure," he is also "North Pole's Official Ambassador of Humor and Goodwill." Though he doesn't get Diplomatic Immunity -- he's asked.
