Melissa Buchta

FM On-air Host

Melissa Buchta became a certified NPR junkie in high school when she stumbled upon an episode of This American Life and has never looked back! She intervened for KSKA in Anchorage in high school as well. Melissa came to UAF seeking a journalism degree and started volunteering at KUAC in 2006. She has since hosted every show (except Night Light) at least once.

In 2011, she joined KUAC’s on-call staff where she has been enjoying the Saturday afternoon shift. Her favorite part of working at KUAC is producing her own music programs, which mostly leads to discovering new music she has never heard before.
Melissa takes pride in her work at KUAC and is happy to find a job that is not only rewording but also lets her get her NPR fix.

You can hear Melissa every Saturday afternoon from 1-7 p.m. and also periodically hosting Round Midnight, Any Old Time, The Oldies Show, The Jazz Show, The Blues Show, The Gospel Hour, Postcards, Funk Roots, and Banjo Signal.

Melissa has also been featured on the new Dark Winter Nights radio show.
