U.A.F. Student Found Dead

A University of Alaska Fairbanks student is dead, the apparent victim of an accident. UAF spokeswoman Marmian Grimes says police received a call shortly after 8 o’clock this morning. “Someone was parked in the Reichart (building) parking lot, and saw a man on the ground outside vehicle there.  They (police) responded and the man was deceased. It appears to be an accidental self inflicted gunshot wound.”

The 48 year old student’s name and hometown are being withheld until next of kin have been notified. Grimes stresses that the investigation is just beginning and that a more definitive explanation of circumstances surrounding the death will take time. UAF Counseling has been notified and is available to help members of the university community. ###
