Wreck near Moose Creek kills North Pole man

Alaska State Troopers are investigating a wreck just south of Moose Creek that claimed the life of a North Pole man early Thursday morning.

Troopers say they got a report at 3:25 a.m. of a wreck with injuries at mile 342 of the Richardson Highway, about 20 miles south of Fairbanks. When Troopers and emergency personnel arrived, they found the driver, 31-year-old Patrick Smith, had been ejected from the vehicle.

Medics attempted CPR before declaring Smith had died.
