Fairbanks, AK - Alaska Governor Bill Walker issued an Administrative Order late last week that directs the Commissioner of Commerce, Community and Economic Development to lead a collaborative statewide effort to improve consumer energy and address energy costs in the Interior.

State Proposes New Eastern Tanana Area Management Plan

Fairbanks, AK - The State Department of Natural Resources hosts a meeting in Fairbanks Tuesday to present a draft of the proposed Eastern Tanana Area Plan.  When completed the plan will outline management of state land and water on roughly 6.8 million acres throughout the Tanana River Valley and surrounding uplands.  Some of that includes property within the Fairbanks North Star Borough north of the Tanana River.  Brandon McCutcheon is a state Land Use Planner.

Fairbanks, AK - The State of Alaska and University of Alaska Fairbanks sponsored the second annual Alaska Strategic and Critical Minerals Summit in Fairbanks last Friday. Geologists, miners, state legislators and key leaders from the both state and federal agencies and international companies gathered to find out more about the potential to explore and develop Alaska’s minerals and rare-earth elements.  Permitting and energy were key issues this year.

State Auctioning Ag Land

The state is auctioning off a large parcel of agricultural land near Anderson. The month long sealed bid auction is for 637 acres. Its’ the 3rd sale in the state’s Kobe designated agricultural use area. KUAC’s Dan Bross reports.
