Investigators have found human remains at the site of a fire that destroyed a home Tuesday morning in an area south of Delta Junction.

Alaska State Troopers say investigators found the remains Wednesday in what’s left of the three-story house on Rapeseed Way and Sawmill Creek Road, about 20 miles south of Delta.

Trooper spokesman Austin McDaniel says the remains have been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office. McDaniel says Troopers won’t be able to identify the victim until after the autopsy.

According to a Trooper report, fire crew members on the scene believe the remains are those of an adult woman who lived in the house.

The report says three people, including two who lived in the house, sustained minor injuries.

A deputy State Fire Marshal from Fairbanks continues investigating the cause of the fire.
