Whitney McLaren
/
Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race

The longtime executive director of the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race is stepping down. According to a release from the raceorganization, Marty Steury is moving on after 11 years leading the annual 1,000-mile race between Fairbanks and Whitehorse.

Steury has been involved in the race since its inception, and earlier served a 5-year stint as Quest director between 1983 and 1988.

Steury cites “major family health issues” as her reason for resigning, saying she cannot no longer commit the time the job requires. She thanks the Quest and says she’ll remain a member and race volunteer.

Steury’s resignation comes before the Quests annual meeting May 30th.
