5 Delta-area Residents Contract Covid at Birthday Party; 6 Cases Reported in Past Week

Five Delta Junction-area residents who attended a recent birthday party have contracted COVID-19. All five report having minor symptoms, and they’ve all been asked to isolate.

The Delta COVID-19 Incident Management Team says one of the victims works for a Fort Greely contractor.

A news release issued by the team Thursday says Delta-area clinics reported a sixth case of COVID over the past week – a Fairbanks-area resident who works in Delta.

The news release says local health officials don’t know the origin of the cases. But there appears to be no connection to local schools. Classes are still being conducted in local schools, with precautions in place under what district officials say is a medium level of COVID risk.

The release says 21 Delta-area residents have reported contracting COVID since the pandemic began. Ten of those people have recovered, and 11 cases remains active.
