Tanana Valley State Fair Association

Organizers of the Tanana Valley State Fair in Fairbanks say they’ll decide soon whether to hold this year’s event or cancel it out of concerns over spreading coronavirus. Meanwhile, organizers of two smaller regional fairs in Delta Junction and Salcha say they still hope to conduct their communities’ annual country fairs this summer.

Chena Hot Springs Resort

Chena Hot Springs Resort plans to reopen Friday. The popular destination 60 miles east of Fairbanks, has been closed since March 21st, but as Alaska’s disease rate has slowed and stabilized,

Denali Park to Open Later with Road Options

Denali National Park is expecting far fewer visitors this summer, which might open options to commercial or private vehicles on the park road.

A hiker, who became the subject of a search last week near Chena Hot Springs Resort east of Fairbanks, was located safe over the weekend.

Alaska State Troopers report that a driver came across 21-year-old Evan Corneliussen of South Carolina, near mile 32 Chena Hot Springs Road, late Saturday night.

They say Corneliussen had an injured foot and the motorist drove him to the hospital at Ft. Wainwright for treatment.
