Fort Greely Reports Case of COVID-19

Fort Greely officials say a civilian Army employee who works at the post has tested positive for COVID-19, the sickness brought on by the novel coronavirus.

A Fort Greely news release issued at 8 p.m. Thursday says the civilian recently had traveled out of state and is now undergoing evaluation and treatment. It says a clinic in nearby Delta Junction Interior Alaska Medical Clinic confirmed the positive test result. And Army and state health officials are now investigating whether other people may have been exposed to the virus.

The news release says Fort Greely officials have, quote, “implemented all appropriate control measures to help control the spread of COVID-19.” And it says Greely’s Health Protection Condition remains at level Charlie, the third of four levels, which means there’s a “substantial chance of transmission” of the virus.
