Healy Clean Coal Plant a Step Closer

Stricter pollution controls for the Healy Clean Coal Plant are included in an agreement that will allow the long idled facility near Denali National Park to come on line. The plant’s re-start is being pushed by Golden Valley Electric Association to lower power costs, but the utility was unable to resolve differences about air quality controls with environmental groups. As KUAC’s Dan Bross reports, this week’s agreement follows direct negotiation with the federal government.
