Hospital Makes Business Toolkit With Signs, Decals

Fairbanks Memorial Hospital

Businesses struggling with the new normal are getting some help from Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.  Over the last weeks as the hospital has opened its hotline, many businesses have called in, asking for advice about how to protect their workers and their customers from the COVID-19 disease. Now the hospital has a tool to help

Called a “Business Tool Kit” the Foundation Health Partners public relations department pulled the information together, because people were not able to find the information easily on the CDCs website.

Dr. Angelique Ramirez, the hospital’s director of medical quality, says Interior businesses were calling the hospital’s COVID-19 hotline, 458-2888, with questions.

"How do you do your business and keep six feet apart? Where do you use plexiglass to create barriers? A lot of the things that we've had to learn over the past couple of months within our health care system, are the same tools that can be used in a business.”

As COVID-19 cases have slowed (for now) in Fairbanks, the hospital staff has had a chance to answer needs other than the immediate medical crisis. Clint Brooks is the Chief Operations Officer for Foundation Health Partners. He says businesses operating in the pandemic have the power to influence the community.

“It’s very difficult to be talking about recovery, when we don’t know what we are facing in the next month or two. This Business Tool Kit was part of trying to get to that new normal.”

The kit includes tip sheets for businesses to comply with health mandates. There signs and floor decals reminding customers of the basic behaviors for public health, like Social Distancing, Hand & Face Hygiene and wearing a face mask while they are in the store.

“We all want a healthy Fairbanks -- healthy economically as well as medically speaking. And the way to do that is if we partner.”

Businesses wanting the toolkit or advice from doctors about keeping businesses safe, there is a page of information on the Foundation Health Partners website: https://www.foundationhealth.org/fhp_home/covid_19~2/community_involvement/covid19_toolkit
