Liam Teague

Originally hailing from Trinidad and Tobago, Liam Teague serves as the Head of Steelpan Studies and Associate Professor of Music at Northern Illinois University. Today he joined Lori Neufeld in the KUAC studio for Alaska Live performing his famous steelpan arrangements on air for all to hear. His percussive hand movements with the steelpan invoke a pleasant island them that puts you in a mindset of vacations and cold drinks. Teague has been holding workshops with local schools in the area and will be performing locally tomorrow night as well. He brought a unique sound to the studio that he described as nothing but "serious fun."

Lori’s love for public broadcasting runs deep. She was raised on Car Talk, Morning Edition, Adventures in Good Music with Karl Haas, and later while studying wildlife biology at Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas, she realized that if she helped answer phones during the fund drive at KMUW, she could meet and chat with the hosts of locally produced shows.
