A Year Later, Will Huggins Still Battles Cancer

Fairbanks, AK - Last year, Yukon Quest Volunteer Ryan Hughes convinced a group of mushers to wear bracelets during the race.

The handmade wristbands bearing the words ‘I Will,’ were part of a fundraiser for a friend in Massachusetts who was battling colon cancer. “My ultimate goal is to get Will Huggins and get him on a sled you know!” Hughes said in 2013.

A year later, the bracelets have been forgotten, but Will Huggins says he still plans to follow the Yukon Quest from his home on the east coast.  KUAC’s Emily Schwing caught up with him to find out how he’s doing.
