Yukon Quest mushers are making final preparations for Saturday’s race start in Fairbanks. For one of 3 rookies in his year’s field of 15 mushers, just getting to Fairbanks has been an adventure. KUAC’s Lex Treinen reports.
There are just fifteen mushers signed up to run the 2020 Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race: the fewest in the race’s history. The Quest is also offering one of its smallest prize purses in the last decade. As KUAC’s Lex Treinen reports, several factors are playing into the decline.
Dave Dalton has already run more Yukon Quests than anyone else, and the Healy musher is preparing to run his 30th, and what he says, will be last trip along the thousand mile trail between Fairbanks and Whitehorse. KUAC’s Lex Treinen reports.
