An elderly Delta Junction woman with lung disease says she was mistreated and manhandled Saturday by Alaska Airlines personnel and Fairbanks International Airport police as they were removing her from a plane because she refused to wear the type of mask the airline requires.

The federal Department of Transportation has awarded a $750,000 grant to Fairbanks International Airport to add incentive to an air carrier to launch and promote new non-stop service from Fairbanks to Los Angeles or Phoenix – or possibly both.

The FBI and Fairbanks International Airport police are investigating two bomb threats called-in to the airport Wednesday night. The terminal was evacuated for a little more than an hour, but no bomb was found and no one was injured. Two Alaska Airlines flights were delayed.

Alaska Airlines is showing off an aircraft it plans to start using in the state next year. The Bombardier  Q-400 is scheduled for use on Fairbanks-Anchorage and Kodiak- Anchorage routes, where the 76 seat twin prop plane will replace or augment current service with larger 737 jets.  KUAC’s Dan Bross reports.
