Born and raised in Alaska, Wes Colquette writes songs from the heart and the Alaskan experience. Colquette is releasing his debut "Gypsy Heart" in just a couple weeks and shared many selections and the stories behind the tunes. One song that Colquette played did make it on the show but not on the album because he had just wrote it hours before the show.

The Chrisman Sisters

Beth Chrisman has had a big year with her Austin band, The Carper Family. They've played both A Prairie Home Companion and Mountain Stage. Younger sister Tara continues to front bands in Alaska and in this session they bring originals, sweet sister harmonies and a friend from Beth's original band to sing with them, Jessica Wood. Stories from the road and country tunes, both originals and classics abound in this session.

Aaron Elterman

Funky and fun, Ukulele Russ and the Fairbanks All Stars entertain and lay down some serious grooves. The first half of the set list was dominated by animal-themed originals, including a useful song to know when out in the wilds of Alaska "Bear Safety".

Balto

Portland-based Balto plays rock and roll that focuses on the original songwriting from guitarist and vocalist Daniel Sheron. Balto has ties to Fairbanks through electric guitarist and vocalist, Luke Beckel, founding member of Fairbanks favorite Sweating Honey. Alaska Live showcased Balto's tight harmonies and stories from their Alaska tour.

The Headbolt Heaters

Fairbanks band The Headbolt Heaters shared original tunes and stories at the KUAC studios. Songs with a diversity of influences including blues, roots, country and even some punk were held together with solid harmonies and clever song crafting.
