Fairbanks, Alaska – Hundreds of firefighters are trying to keep flames away from roads and structures. As KUAC's Dan Bross reports, intense fire activity along the Taylor Highway in the eastern interior has closed the road.

Fairbanks, Alaska – Agonistes is a Greek word meaning torn with inner conflict. Former Alaska journalist Joe LaRocca's recently released book, "Alaska Agonistes", details the contentious time in the state following the discovery of oil on the North Slope. LaRocca has a critical perspective that often runs counter to our common view. As LaRocca tells Kuac's Dan Bross, he considers Jay Hammond Alaska's worst elected governor.

Fairbanks, AK – Promising honor students from rural Alaska are studying at the University of Alaska Fairbanks through July 11. They cover everything from chemistry, computer programming, advanced math...and native dance, to get a jump start on college.

Fairbanks, Ak. – A complaint was filed June 16th in Nome accusing retired Catholic Priest Jim Poole of abusing a western Alaska Native woman when she was a teenager. As Kuac's Dan Bross reports, there may be more Poole victims.
