A search is underway for parts belonging to an historic aircraft that crashed along the Tanana River near Fairbanks over 4 decades ago. The Mitchell B-25 bomber was in service as a fire fighting plane when it went down in June 1969. Two Michigan men purchased and removed what was left of the plane known as "Sandbar Mitchell” last summer, and as KUAC’s Dan Bross they’re hoping to track down other parts of the 2nd World War relic.
