Color Key to Remote Permafrost Detection

A German scientist has teamed with University of Alaska Fairbanks researchers to develop a way to remotely determine the presence of permafrost in soils. As KUAC’s Mary Auld (ALD) reports, the technique uses color variations in trees and other vegetation.
