Eielson Air Force Base officials are investigating a problem with an F-16 fighter jet that occurred last week. But they aren’t saying much about the incident.
Eielson’s public affairs office released a two-sentence statement Monday morning in response to questions about an incident involving an aircraft that reportedly occurred last week.
The statement confirmed that a “mishap” had occurred around 2 p.m. Wednesday involving an F-16 that was on a taxiway after returning to base following completion of a training mission.
The response added “There were no injuries, and the incident is currently under investigation.”
An Eielson spokesperson said in an email Monday afternoon that base officials aren’t releasing any more information about the incident at this time.
The F-16 was assigned to Eielson’s 18th Aggressor Squadron.
