Thompson Pass Area Targeted For Proposed Land Exchange

(This story has been edited to correct that there ARE mining claims in the area surrounding the BLM land proposed for exchange) The Bureau of Land Management is considering lands along the Richardson Highway in the Thompson Pass area for potential exchange with an Alaska Native corporation. As KUAC’s Dan Bross reports, the BLM is laying administrative groundwork for the potential exchange which has drawn public concern about environmental and outdoor recreation impacts in the alpine region north of Valdez.
