State Election filing deadline is Wednesday, 5 p.m.

That last story was about the special election for the 5-month congressional position. This next story is about the regular statewide elections. Candidates have until 5 p.m. tomorrow to file.

As of 5 p.m. last Friday, 9 pairs are running for Governor and Lt. Governor, including incumbent Mike Dunleavy.

17 people have filed to run for the open US Senate seat, including incumbent Lisa Murkowski.

26 people are running for Alaska’s only US House seat, (the two-year term that starts in January.)

In addition, because of the US Census and redistricting all of Alaska’s 20 state senate seats and 40 state house seats are up for election. According to the Alaska Beacon, 17 of those 60 legislators are not going to run again, which means at least one-third of our legislators will be new next January.
