Elder Remembers Early Days Of Sled Dog Racing

Fairbanks, AK. – The Open North American Championship sled dog races are happening this weekend. The world's premier sprint event has brought top mushers and their canine athletes to Fairbanks since 1946. Today dog drivers come from all over, but in decades past Alaska Natives made up much of the field. As Athabascan elder Howard Luke elder tells Dan Bross, his success in dog sled racing had humble beginnings.
