Washington State reporter reflects on embedded experience

By Libby Casey

Fairbanks, AK – When Alaska's Stryker Brigade went to Iraq this fall, they replaced a Brigade from Fort Lewis, Washington which served in the war zone for a year. During that time, the News Tribune in Tacoma sent some of its staff to embed with the Brigade. Reporter and editor Matt Misterek spent 6 weeks in Mosul, Iraq. As Misterek tells KUAC's Libby Casey, he and photographer Peter Haley reported both from the relative safety of the military base and from the streets of Mosul.
