Rory O'Bannion was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. He lived in the northeast all his life until moving to Fairbanks in 2016 with his wife who grew up in Alaska. He studied music at Onondaga Community College and at the State University of New York in Oneonta where he earned a bachelor's degree in music. He also works with horses at Drounin Spring Equine Center and teaches guitar at Music Mart. Rory has been a singer and songwriter for 20 years and has performed in New York, Massachusetts and Fairbanks. "I always wanted to work in radio; KUAC is the first place that gave me the opportunity and I am very grateful for it," Rory said. "What I like most about working here is being able to play to my strengths. I love having a job where my passion and knowledge for music can be used. There's also a sense of family and community at KUAC that I've never seen anywhere else before. I'm glad to be a part of that." In his spare time, Rory enjoys cartooning, playing classical guitar, songwriting, brewing beer, Red Sox baseball and riding horses.
