Small community centers and gathering places in Alaska are the focus of Miki Sawada's "Gather Hear Alaska" tour. Have UHaul, acoustic/electronic piano, videographer and tour dates--will travel. Pianist Sawada believes in bringing classical music to far-flung places to connect through really listening together.

The Bow Thayer Trio performs originals from Bow Thayer himself. He's made a new instrument, the Bojotar, featured in the "plugged in" part of the show. Krishna Guthrie plays guitar and drums in the trio and brings a family tradition of American music to the band through the lineage of Woody Guthrie (great grandfather) and Arlo Guthrie (grandfather). Alex Abraham harmonizes on vocals and makes up the rhythm section for the trio.

What goes into becoming a conductor? Mahler wrote verses to his Symphony No. 4, mvmt 4 and they are delightful. What is the context of those verses? Malcom Arnold composed an overture and put "Grand Grand" in the title. What household machines make it on the concert stage for this overture? Answers to all these questions and insights into the chosen music selections on this Afternoon Concert.

In this Alaska Live segment, three performers join host Lori Neufeld.  For the first half hour, Jamie Maschler brings her extensive knowledge and experience with the accordion to the studios.  And for the second half, guitarist Manuel Perez presents diverse pieces of music, from flamenco to rock 'n' roll.  He is also joined by flamenco dancer Lucia Artacho.

Two members of the new music group CORVUS return to their hometown of Fairbanks and perform for Alaska Live.  Violinist and Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival's New Music Coordinator, Andie Springer performs with her fellow band mate and flutist, Katie Cox.

Fairbanks-born fiddle player, Caitlin Warbelow has recently performed on the Tony Awards stage with the Broadway hit "Come From Away."  In this Alaska Live segment, she performs Celtic music alongside friends, Kyle Sanna and Isaac Alderson.
