Dan has been in public radio news in Alaska since 1993.  He’s worked as a reporter, newscaster and talk show host at stations in McGrath, Valdez and Fairbanks. Dan’s experience includes coverage of a wide range of topics, from wolf control to the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and dog mushing. 

He graduated from St. Lawrence University in upstate New York with a degree in fine arts and environmental studies in 1987.  Snow and adventure lured Dan and wife Peggy to Alaska in 1992. The couple and their two kids enjoy cross country skiing, back packing and river trips.

A group of 4 military veterans are riding motorcycles from Alaska to Argentina. Riding the Pan America route is not unusual, but as KUAC’s Dan Bross reports, the Army vets are attempting an unprecedented continuous journey that includes going through the road less Darien Gap.

Sobering Center To Open

Fairbanks has long struggled with how best to help people who regularly drink too much and end up endangered on city streets. Community Service Patrol officers routinely bring chronic inebriates to the hospital or jail, but this month Fairbanks has a new option: a sobering center. KUAC’s Dan Bross reports.
