A Fairbanks man has been arrested in connection with a fire that destroyed a home in North Pole last week.

Alaska State Troopers say 30-year-old Travis Sieben was arrested last week after witnesses told police they saw him running from a home in North Pole that was on fire. Troopers say the two residents of the home reported the fire at around noon last Friday, the 14th.

They got out of the structure before the fire destroyed it. But one of the victims was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.

According to a Trooper report, a state Deputy Fire Marshal investigated and determined the fire was deliberately set.

The report says Sieben was at the hospital soon after he was seen near the burning trailerhome. He was arrested for unlawful contact, because he was prohibited from being in the area where the fire occurred. He’s also charged with violating probation.

An online court-system database shows Sieben was served with two domestic-violence protective orders, one in 2019 and another in 2020. The database also shows he pleaded guilty in October 2020 to domestic violence-related third-degree assault.

Sieben is being held at Fairbanks Correctional Center. Bail is set at $10,000.

Troopers say Sieban may face additional charges.
