Alaska State Troopers are looking for the public's help in identifying the vehicle that struck 47-year-old John Emerick Tuesday night on the Alaska Highway just south of Delta Junction.

State public safety officials believe a Fairbanks woman died in a house fire early Monday morning. That’s according to an Alaska State Troopers online dispatch, which said officials believe the victim to be 39-year-old Alicia Anderson.

The dispatch says Steese Volunteer Fire Department received a report of a residential structure fire around 2 a.m. Monday. It says crews found Anderson’s one-story cabin on Whistling Swan Drive engulfed in flames, and that they discovered human remains during the response. Whistling Swan Drive is north of Farmers Loop Road.

According to the dispatch, two deputy fire marshals conducted an investigation into the origin of the fire, which found that it “occurred under intentional circumstances by Anderson herself.”

The victim has been transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and confirmation of identification, and next of kin have been notified.
