UPDATE: The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District announced Monday night that schools would remain closed on Tuesday.
The borough also announced late Monday that its public services, like libraries and public transit, would be suspended again on Tuesday.

Inclement weather canceled school and halted some other services in the Fairbanks area Monday.
The National Weather Service is forecasting between 12 and 18 inches of snow for the Fairbanks North Star Borough through Tuesday. Many other parts of the Interior are also expected to get at least a few inches of accumulation.
The borough school district announced early Monday morning that schools would be closed for the day due to difficult road conditions. Separately, the borough suspended all services Monday, including its public transit, libraries and parks and rec facilities.
Tanana Chiefs Conference closed in-person services at the Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center and its administrative offices in Fairbanks for the day. TCC also closed its health clinic in Nenana due to the inclement weather.
Eielson Air Force Base and Fort Wainwright issued alerts Monday morning that roads were at “Red” status, indicating highly hazardous driving conditions. Eielson’s alert said reporting for duty was limited to mission-essential and emergency personnel. A Fort Wainwright spokesperson said personnel at the installation reported as normal today.
Meanwhile, the University of Alaska Fairbanks announced Monday morning it would be open and that classes would take place as scheduled. Foundation Health Partners also said it was keeping open its clinics, including Tanana Valley Clinic, Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and the Denali Center.
