The National Park Service says one of its rangers has died after falling into a crevasse on North America’s tallest mountain.

Robin Pendery of Washington state was a seasonal mountaineering ranger assigned to Denali National Park and Preserve.

A park service release says she was out on a climbing patrol when she fell near an area known as the 14,000-foot Camp. Despite rescue efforts, Pendery died around 2 p.m. on June 4.

Last week, three other climbers died after falling near Denali Pass, on another part of the mountain. A fourth climber was rescued.

The park service release says the incident is still under investigation. Park officials could not be reached for comment.
