Authorities have released the names of seven law-enforcement officers who were involved in the fatal shooting of a suspect in Fairbanks last week.
The shooting occurred at around 10:30 p.m. last Monday, the 12th, after Fairbanks Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on Washington Drive on the city’s west side.
When officers arrived, 36-year-old Thomas Bean opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle, hitting several squad cars. Police returned fire, and several more city police and Alaska State Troopers arrived for backup. After Bean refused to surrender, seven officers fatally shot him.
Following the melee, investigators discovered that Bean had fatally shot 29-year-old Jesse Bidgood, of North Pole. His body and Beans’s both were sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
On Friday, the Alaska Bureau of Investigation released the names of officers who fired their weapons.
The Alaska State Troopers identified are:
Sergeant Brent Hatch
Trooper Zachary Chicoine
Trooper Peter Testa
The Fairbanks Police personnel identified are:

The Bureau of Investigation is looking into the case, and that investigation will then be independently reviewed by the Alaska Office of Special Prosecutions.
