1. Golden Valley Electric Association said the co-op will soon sharply increase how much it charges members to help pay for fuel to generate electricity.

2. Alaska lawmakers voted last week to increase state unemployment benefits for the first time since 2009. But Gov. Mike Dunleavy hasn't said he'll sign the bill.

3. A senior Army officer stationed at Fort Wainwright will serve as the University of Alaska Fairbanks’ new chancellor. 

4. Leptospirosis [lep-TOE-speh-ROE-sis] is a widespread disease in the Lower 48 that can be deadly to dogs. Veterinarians say it isn’t a problem in Alaska yet. But some vets are pushing to get dogs vaccinated now.

5. Riding a bike to school can be tough in the western Alaska city of Nome. But on Tuesday, students tried a safer way to make a bicycle trip — by going together.
