City's second fatal motorcycle accident in one week
A motorcyclist died Saturday of injuries sustained in an accident on Geist Road at an intersection near the Parks Highway in Fairbanks, according to Alaska State Troopers.
A trooper spokesperson identified the victim as 22-year-old Ozzy Rodriguez of Fairbanks.
Troopers say a preliminary investigation indicates the wreck happened when the eastbound motorcycle collided with a vehicle turning left from Geist onto Loftus Road. Rodriguez was declared dead at the scene.
The spokesperson says no citations were issued. He said an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
Saturday’s fatal wreck is the second time a motorcyclist has
died of injuries sustained in a collision. On July 19th, 19-year-old Aiden Cowles of Fairbanks died of injuries he suffered in an accident at the intersection of 10th Avenue and the Steese Expressway.
