Closing Arguments Heard In FBX 4 Case

The Fairbanks Four exoneration case is in the hands of Superior Court Judge Paul Lyle. Closing arguments were heard Tuesday in a 5 week hearing to consider innocence declaration requests by George Frese, Kevin Pease, Marvin Roberts, and Eugene Vent, the 4 Native men convicted of the 1997 murder of John Hartman. As KUAC’s Dan Bross reports, with no physical evidence in the case, attorneys focused on overlaying puzzles of testimony by dozens of witnesses, including 2 potential alternative Hartman murder suspects.

Dan has been in public radio news in Alaska since 1993. He’s worked as a reporter, newscaster and talk show host at stations in McGrath, Valdez and Fairbanks. Dan’s experience includes coverage of a wide range of topics, from wolf control to the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and dog mushing.
