A pair of hikers were rescued from a popular trail east of Fairbanks over the weekend. A State Trooper report says a 30-year-old Ft. Wainwright man, and an 18-year-old Fairbanks woman were reported lost on the Granite Tours trail shortly before midnight Saturday.

Wildlife troopers and State Park rangers hiked out and located the pair, who had been out for about 13 hours, and were wet, disoriented and displaying signs of hypothermia.

Troopers say the responding officers and rangers built a fire, provided the hikers with food, and the woman was put in a sleeping bag. The pair were transported off the trail early Sunday by helicopter. Trooper says neither hiker was injured, and they were released.
