A state legislative committee held a hearing yesterday (Tues) on Kinross Alaska’s proposed Manh (MON) Choh (CHO) gold mine project on Tetlin Village land south of Tok. The Joint House Transportation and Resources Committee heard from a Kinross executive and Tetlin’s Chief about jobs and other project benefits but much of the hearing focused on Kinross’s plan to truck raw ore from the mine on the Alaska, Richardson and Steese Highways to the processing mill at the companies Ft. Knox mine north of Fairbanks. KUAC’s Dan Bross reports.
