There’s some optimism that the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race’s Alaska and Yukon boards can heal their relationship. The 2 sides stopped talking in April after disagreements related to dog care, which began with a Yukon side proposal to dramatically increase the amount of mandatory rest along the thousand-mile trail between Fairbanks and Whitehorse. As KUAC’s Dan Bross reports, the split has scuttled plans to resume running of the traditional race following 2 years of cancellations during the pandemic.
