(Fairbanks, Ak) Three soldiers were killed and another injured in a mid-air crash of 2 Army helicopters near Healy yesterday (Thurs).
According to an 11th Airborne Division release, the Ft. Wainwright based Apache helicopters were returning from a training mission when they collided.
It says 2 soldiers were declared dead at the scene and a third died en route to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
The soldier injured in the crash is being treated at the Fairbanks Memorial.
The names of the deceased are being withheld until 24 hours after next of kin notifications are completed.
The accident will be investigated by a team from the Army Combat Readiness Center, in Alabama. ###
