'Mining in our backyard' forum hosted by League of Women Voters
A discussion of the role of modern mining exploration and operations in the Fairbanks North Star Borough.
Fairbanks has long been a mining center of the Interior from the days of the original gold panners to our large-scaled modern, mechanized operations. What is the impact on our lives?
The forum was Thursday, March 30, at
Schaible Auditorium, University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Speakers included representatives from the Alaska Mining Association, the Institute of
Social and Economic Research, UAA, the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, the Fairbanks North Star Borough Planning Department, Save Our Domes, and Advocates for Safe Alaskan Highways.
The program was broadcast live by KUAC-FM.
