Snowmachine Wreck near Fox Kills 1, injures 1

A 41-year-old Fairbanks woman died Monday after wrecking her snowmachine near Fox. Alaska State Troopers say her passenger was seriously injured.

Troopers say Misty Blanchard died of injuries she sustained after she lost control of her snowmachine while driving down a steep slope on a pipeline access trail next Fox around 4 p.m. Monday.

A Trooper report says personnel on-site tried to revive her with CPR and other on-site lifesaving efforts before she was declared dead.

The report says Blanchard and a passenger both were thrown from the snowmachine when she wrecked. The passenger, 23-year-old Sidney Robertson of Missouri, was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, then transported to Providence Alaska Medical Center, where he’s listed in serious condition.

Troopers say neither Blanchard nor Robertson were wearing a helmet.

Editor's note: This story was revised to correct the age of the victim that Alaska State Troopers reported. Misty Blanchard was 41.
