Kate Payne is an Iowa City-based reporter for Iowa Public Radio. Before she came to the Hawkeye State she was a reporter and fill-in host for WFSU, the NPR member station in Tallahassee, Florida. Kate has won awards for her political and feature reporting and her sound editing.

Nathan Baring grew up in Fairbanks listening to KUAC FM. “It’s been in our family my entire life,” he said. While in high school he volunteered during the KUAC fundraisers, then transitioned to hosting “World Café.” Now he is an on-call announcer. A biology and political science major at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, Nathan said his job at KUAC FM makes him feel like he is giving back to his hometown. “I feel closer to the community when I’m reading the weather forecast or wildfire announcements or PSAs,” he said. “It’s helping bring people together.”

Mary Auld was born in Fairbanks and lived here until the age of 9 when her family moved to upstate New York. She earned a degree in creative writing from State University of New York-Geneseo. After working for a newspaper in Montana, Mary began graduate studies in environmental journalism at the University of Montana.

Katie Meyer
Katie Meyer is WITF’s Capitol bureau chief, and she covers all things state politics for public radio stations throughout Pennsylvania. Katie came to Harrisburg by way of New York City, where she worked at Fordham University’s public radio station, WFUV, as an anchor, general assignment reporter, and co-host of an original podcast. A 2016 graduate of Fordham, she won several awards for her work at WFUV, including four 2016 Gracies. Katie is a native New Yorker, though she originally hails from Troy, a little farther up the Hudson River. She can attest that the bagels are still pretty good there.
