A roadblock on the west side of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Troth Yeddha’ Campus on Sept. 30, 2025.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks canceled morning classes on Tuesday as police investigated an alleged bomb threat. A subsequent UAF release said police had completed a search of the campus and determined that no explosive devices were present.

The university received an email this morning about a potential explosive device near the Elvey Building, on the west side of campus, according to a news release from UAF. Colleges and universities across the country reported getting similar threats this morning, including in Delaware, Michigan, Texas and Alabama.

UAF police had blocked off the West Ridge area on Tuesday morning and urged the public to avoid that part of campus. Regular university operations and classes are set to resume after noon on Tuesday.

The University Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
