The Alaska Goldpanners have cancelled their upcoming baseball season, including the historic Midnight Sun Game normally held at Growden Park in Fairbanks, on June 21st, starting at 10 PM.
A post announcing the cancellation cites the safety of players, fans and staff in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, saying
it would be impossible to comply with medical recommendations and government policies.
The Goldpanners are offering full refunds of pre-purchased tickets.
It will be the first summer without Goldpanner baseball since 1960.
The Midnight Sun Game, normally played on the Summer Solstice, is a much older Fairbanks tradition, dating back to 1906.
