Omega 3's Help Hibernating Squirrels

Rhiannan William

Omega 3 fats help arctic ground squirrels stay warm during hibernation. That’s the finding of research at the University of Alaska Fairbanks published last month in the journal Scientific Reports. As KUAC’s Mary Auld (ALD) reports, the study provides insight into how diet can affect body regulation.

Mary Auld was born in Fairbanks and lived here until the age of 9 when her family moved to upstate New York. She earned a degree in creative writing from State University of New York-Geneseo. After working for a newspaper in Montana, Mary began graduate studies in environmental journalism at the University of Montana.
