UAF Geophysical Institute Marks 75 Years

The blue satellite dish atop the University of Alaska Fairbanks Elvey building has long been iconic of the scientific research focused West Ridge part of campus. Elvey is home to the UAF Geophysical Institute, which was established by Congress 75 years ago this week. As KUAC’s Dan Bross reports the G.I. started with a focused mission and has grown into a center for diverse research, monitoring and innovation.

Dan has been in public radio news in Alaska since 1993. He’s worked as a reporter, newscaster and talk show host at stations in McGrath, Valdez and Fairbanks. Dan’s experience includes coverage of a wide range of topics, from wolf control to the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and dog mushing.
