Colver Denies Two-Term Incumbent Feige’s Bid for Re-election to District 9 Seat

Two-term Republican Rep. Eric Feige has been defeated in his bid for re-election. He came in last in a three-way race with two challengers who, like Feige, live in the Mat-Su.

Jim Colver and George Rauscher both outpolled the two-term incumbent. Unofficial results show Colver the top vote-getter with 36 percent of the vote; Rauscher was second with 34 percent; and Feige bringing up the rear with 29 percent of the votes.

District 9 stretches from the Mat-Su to the Richardson Highway corridor, extending southward to Valdez and northward to Delta Junction.

Colver will go up against Democrat Mabel Wimmer, another Palmer-area resident, in the November general election.

Tim has worked in the news business for over three decades, mainly as a newspaper reporter and editor in southern Arizona. Tim first came to Alaska with his family in 1967, and grew up in Delta Junction before emigrating to the Lower 48 in 1977 to get a college education and see the world.
