The death of a pack rafter in Wrangle St. Elias National Park earlier this month, has raised awareness about proper preparation for the increasingly popular sport of floating back country rivers in tiny ultralight inflatable boats. KUAC’s Dan Bross reports.

Fort Wainwright

Moose-hunting season begins in just over two weeks, and hunters are up in arms over restrictions on access through military-training ranges that will make it hard for them to get back into their favorite camps. Fort Wainwright officials say they’ve tried to accommodate hunters’ concerns. But they say the restrictions are needed because the ranges around Fort Greely will be busy for the next few weeks with Air Force Red Flag training exercises.

The Interior Gas Utility's board of directors reluctantly accepted the resignation of Frank Abegg Tuesday. But several people who turned out for the board meeting told members they’re concerned about the fiscal issues Abegg raised in his four-page resignation letter. And an official with the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority denied his accusations that the agency put the IGU in a financially precarious situation.
